December 8, 2018 - 7:00pm

Eugene’s nonprofit Community Center for the Performing Arts is celebrating its 43rd Anniversary at the annual WOW Hall Membership Party to be held on Saturday, December 8, beginning at 7:00 pm.  Entertainment will include Strange Desserts, Cable Quintet, The Almond Butters Band and Jar.

The Community Center for the Performing Arts was incorporated to save the Woodmen of the World Hall from demolition and keep it available to the community.  On December 10, 1975, the WOWATHON began with live entertainment 24 hours a day for five days in order to raise a down payment.  Now officially designated a historic landmark by the National Register of Historic Places, the WOW Hall is a popular community-owned, democratically operated, volunteer-based, all ages venue that has the support of over 800 dues-paying, business and volunteer members.

Each year around this time the Membership Party serves to thank the supporters of the CCPA, a nonprofit (501c3) arts organization.  Last year eighty-seven area restaurants and other businesses agreed to contribute prepared food, beverages and other items for a buffet-style dinner.  This year we hope to see a similar number of restaurants participating.  Expect to find two rows of serving tables covered with breads, salads, hot and cold main dishes, pizzas, snacks and desserts.  New dishes are presented throughout the event, so you don’t need to come early to get a great meal.    The basement will also be offering an assortment of nibbles as well as some special deals on adult beverages that have been donated for the occasion.

Admission to the Membership Party is free for members. Memberships are available on a sliding scale, $15 to $35 a year (or more).  If you would like to become a supporting member of the CCPA, please call our office (541-687-2746 Monday through Friday noon to 6:00 pm) or visit our website at
